What We Believe

The United Methodist Church is an 11-million-strong global church that bases its disciple-making process on the four tenets developed by the denomination’s founder, John Wesley:  Scripture, Reason, Tradition, and Experience.  This quadrilateral guides our interpretation of scripture and helps us discern how to live out God’s Great Commandment and Jesus’ Great Commission.  This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as “practical divinity” has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.

We believe that faith is the basis of our whole being—a matter of heart and soul.  To be a committed Christian means to ground our lives in the teachings of Jesus Christ.  Unconditional grace and a holy life everlasting are the gift we receive as Christians.  Within our faith community, serving is a choice we make.
